A dear client of mine gifted me Advanced Style by Ari Seth Cohen (thanks Barbara!).
It already has made quite an impact on me– I believe that fashion is most pleasurable when we can celebrate what makes us unique. This book captures women who challenge the idea that style is only for the junior set.
One of my favorites profiled is Jacquie Tajah Murdock, a dancer who still strikes a fierce pose at eighty. She has performed at legendary venues such as Apollo Theater and Savoy Ballroom.
We seem to be kindred spirits in regard to art and fashion: “Fashion is an art–especially high fashion.”
How fitting that she was chosen to be a model for the fashion brand Lanvin and their winter 2012 campaign! It is inspiring to see that Jacquie made her fashion magazine debut as an octogenarian.
Even as a thirty-five year old, I would very much like to grow up and be like her.

What a beautiful aspiration.
