I definitely feel this way about Jenny Packham’s beautiful wedding gowns. Notice how I use gown versus dress, since Ms. Packham’s designs are decidedly made for a woman who appreciates the silhouette of a silent movie starlette.
One of my favorite Hollywood sirens is Anna May Wong. As a teenager, I was fascinated with the films of yesteryear, before technicolor ruled. So it was quite a thrill to learn about Wong, especially as a young Asian American who rarely has seen someone who looked even remotely similar to me.
I think the best way to feel dressed to the nines on your wedding day is to step into a gown allows you to feel as if you’re stepping into a black and white film of your very own.
